I've just submitted a new version of Osmarender.<br><br>This version contains many improvements to the rendering engine and lots of improvements to the tiles@home rules files.<br><br>There's a presentation of some of the major changes (showing before and after screen shots) here:

If you are running the tiles@home client then you can get the new version by refreshing from svn.

Specifically, I've been panning around a lake for a while at zoom 17 and can't find a name, though, for an area of this size, perhaps it should be visible out a low zoom... Then again, it might just be that the renderer is missing fonts... we'll see if it manages to rerender...
