I saw the BSGPSPDA project.  However, it only seems to be available

for Windows based PDAs and I have a Palm.  That may be the perfect

software to use with a PDA, but I won't know until I buy a different

PDA.  <br><br>

I have a program called USAPhotoMaps on my PC.  It downloads USGS

photo and topo map images from Terraserver.  It can supply a moving

map display which is the big feature that most programs lack.  But

of course, it requires a laptop to run.  I tried contacting the

author about letting me port the program to a PDA, but even though he

supplies the C source file, he won't release the other files such as the

h and rc files.  I think that would have been a great program to use

as a start for a PDA app, but it is not to be.  <br><br>

Maybe I'll take a look at BSGPSPDA (what a name!) in terms of porting it

to the palm.  That might be a fun project! <br><br>

been using BSGPSPDA for plotting tracks on OSM maps that 'track as you

go', for quite some time now and I have to say I've had nothing but

success (although I'm not a great contributer to the OSM project). 

All my OSM Tiles are saved to the storage card and I have the option to

save my track logs to the storage card or the PDA so I shouldn't think

there's be a problem with waypoints being saved to the storage card

either.  Just stick it on the wish list!! <br>

I use the entry level Futisu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 that has an

integrated GPS receiver and the software provides all the tools I need

for recording tracks, waypoints, etc. It uses the latest OSM tiles and

the recorded track can be overlayed on the OSM map.  The tracks are

saved as *.GPX for immediate export to JOSM and you have the option to

verbally record descriptions of waypoints.  The only option I

haven't got is the integrated camera!!!! <br>
