As with roads and cycle-ways there are national footpaths (Pedlars Way

etc in the UK) there are regional and also local ones.  Sometimes

one stretch of path may be on two different networks as well as being

part of the national cycle route or whatever.<br>

interesting as other posters have commented.  The UK-derived

ncn/ncn_ref rcn/rcn_ref lcn/lcnref system for cycleways seems to be

working; I've been able adopt it here in Sweden with no problem. 

How about an exact footpath analogue?  nfp/nfp_ref rfp/rfp_ref
