Interesting! I'll read the wiki links you provided and make sure everything matches up.

Beau

On Mon, May 26, 2008 at 11:17 AM, Steve Chilton <S.L.Chilton@mdx.ac.uk> wrote:
The change will bring boundaries tagged as admin_level=2 (national boundaries) in earlier.
The tagging for national borders should be as per wiki:

boundary=administrative <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php?title=Tag:boundary%3Dadministrative&action=edit> , admin_level <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/Key:admin_level> =2 <http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php?title=Tag:admin_level%3D2&action=edit> marks country borders, such as the border between Austria and Germany. The names of the countries is specified through the tags "left:country", "right:country", if used on a linear way rather than an enclosed/area way.

This appears to be tagged as admin_level=4 - at least on the section I looked at just now.

Here's an example:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.24&lon=-119.01&zoom=7&layers=B00FF

Glad to see this will be fixed by Wednesday! :)

I'll double-check that everything works then too.
Could you give a link to a suitable position to see this on the map?

One possibility is that this way is the border of multiple regions and
has a tag like:
admin_level="7;8"

If so, this causes problems for the older osm2pgsql/mapnik code which
running on the tile server at the moment. I plan to update to the trunk
osm2pgsql code which should handle this better.

A trac ticket does make it easier to keep a record of known issues.
