<ul><li> Spreading OSM to new parts of the world. Developing nations have the most to benefit from near zero-cost digital mapping.
</li><li> And increase membership in these parts of the world. This
might call for official local chapters, or some kind of less formal
affiliate scheme.
</li><li> Coordinate a solution for editing disputes. A part technical and part social problem.
</li><li> Develop guidelines and documents to help liberate existing data inside governments and companies.

Hello,<br><br>Elections for the OSMF are coming up with nominations closing on the<br>25th August. I'm standing for election this year as a board member<br>and I think its important for OSMF's representatives to state their<br>positions and let the OSMF members know who and what they are electing<br>to help look after the Foundation:<br><br>Here's a summary of what I would aim to achieve over a year as an OSMF<br>board member:<br><br> * State Of The Map organisation. I aim to help the conference grow<br>by supporting the community in choosing a venue, organising logistics,<br>helping with call for papers, helping with website set up and anything<br>else needed by the hosts, whoever they may be. I've helped out with<br>the organisation of the last two conferences, both of which have been<br>highlights of my time working with OSM. I'd like to the last two<br>years of experiences to make sure that SOTM09 is even better than
the<br>last two years.<br><br> * Accountability and communitcation for OSMF. Its understandable<br>that in a busy, volunteer based organisation like the Foundation,<br>communication of work and aims becomes secondary to actually achieving<br>the aims. I'd like to help the Foundation communicate more<br>effectively with its membership. Some ideas I have include regular<br>email updates and blog posts that summarise the different projects<br>that the Foundation are working on.<br><br> * Promoting OSM. One of the important roles of the Foundation is<br>representing OSM at conferences, shows and developer meetups around<br>the world and most importantly helping to support other OSMers in<br>their promotion of the project.
