I wrote a little while back that we would be working on some data<br>
imports for Africa. In short, we received permission from 2 different<br>
UN data repo's to contribute their base road, river, rail, and admin<br>
boundary data to OSM. So far, we have cleaned and imported 6<br>
countries worth of road layers. Next up is to do some final QA, once<br>
we can see the data in Potlach, then onto the other layers for each of<br>
the 6 countries. And there are still 5 more countries available to us<br>
to work on.<br>

tTb4 All seemed to go well with the import under the new API, though<br>
we had a bit of trouble with DRC (it's a huge file).<br>

We've received several emails from folks wanting to help us in this<br>
process. Now that we (think) we've got our feet under us, we hope to<br>
work with them as we process the remaining data.<br>
