Finnish translation will be done here: http://fi.flossmanuals.net/kirjoita/openstreetmap/_v/1.0/edit/

Of course it would be possible to use some other tool but then it should be discussed so that people don't end up translating the same chapters using different tools.

I was asking the Finnish discussion list if there are Finnish-speaking users of OSM who would like to help with the translation. It would also be useful to add information about the localization of different OSM editors and some examples about the use of OpenStreetMap in Finland.
Looks like the French translation is already happening here:

http://booki.flossmanuals.net/openstreetmap_fr/_edit/

Can the translation b crowdsourced?
Google translate toolkit allows a number of ppl to work on a given translation. Is there reason not to use that?
Subject: Re: [OSM-talk] The Open Source OpenStreetMap Book

Hi Jaakko,

Nope nobody in DC has the books. Ian is going to send me some of them
to spread around, but I have no idea of the timing of that. Also I'm
not in home very much.

Yes the plan is to translate the book into French. I have no idea of
the timing of that though.

There is translation of LearnOSM being worked on as well, but I have
no idea how long that is going to take.
