Hi All,<div>OSM has taken part in the<a href="http://code.google.com/soc/"> Google Summer of Code</a> programme for the last few years, and we are thinking of applying to take part again this year.</div><div>The programme is to encourage university students to participate in open source projects. They receive a payment from Google to allow them to work on computer coding projects over the summer break rather than taking other work. OSM receives a small contribution for its participation too.</div>
<div><br></div><div>To take part OSM has to provide a list of 'project ideas' for challenging, but achievable projects, then offer a mentor to help the successful students achieve their project goals.</div><div><br>
</div><div>We have started an ideas page at <a href="http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/GSoC_Project_Ideas_2012">http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/GSoC_Project_Ideas_2012</a>. Please will you have a look, and add any project ideas you can come up with to the list?</div>
<div>Also, if you would be willing to act as a mentor, please make a note on that page too. </div><div><br></div><div>We need to complete the project ideas list this week, so please put down anything you can think of eary.</div>
<div><br></div><div>If you would like any more information, please let me know.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks</div><div><br></div><div><br>Graham.</div><div><br clear="all"><div><br></div>-- <br>Graham Jones<div>Hartlepool, UK.</div>
