<div dir="ltr">The iD logic is that you first draw a polygon, then mark what it is. So what happens is new mappers see a nice little polygon on the map, and forget they still have to mark it as a thing. As you have told iD already that you want to map a polygon, it has already tagged it with "area=yes" (which will be removed if you tag it as something that's an area by default). <div><br></div><div>In a mapathon flow, this is quite normal to happen. They are not mapping a building, looking at the result, then continuing with something else. They are just mapping lots of buildings. During mapathons, it's a constant challenge to keep an eye (both virtual and over the shoulder) on people doing this.<div><br></div><div>iD does give a very clear warning when you are trying to save untagged points, lines and polygons. It even generates a list of untagged things, which you can click on to zoom to the guilty object. Of course, you can ignore all of that (which is even sometimes justified).</div></div><div><br></div><div>This feature is relatively new, it might be interesting to see how many of the guilty area=yes things were created since the implementation.</div><div><br></div><div>It also sounds like it would be useful to have people save quickly and try to render the area they are working on. That has the disadvantage that you also need to start explaining quite a few things about rendering first.</div><div class="gmail_extra"><br clear="all"><div><br></div>-- <br><div class="gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr">Joost @</div><div dir="ltr"><a href="http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/joost%20schouppe/" target="_blank">Openstreetmap</a> | <a href="https://twitter.com/joostjakob" target="_blank">Twitter</a> | <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/pub/joost-schouppe/48/939/603" target="_blank">LinkedIn</a> | <a href="http://www.meetup.com/OpenStreetMap-Belgium/members/97979802/" target="_blank">Meetup</a></div></div></div></div></div></div>
