Wondering if there was a consensus on tagging an abandoned, no
longer very usable path (e.g. a path which has become
overgrown or is unclear and prone to flooding in wetter
periods). Something like "path=abandoned"?</div>

<p>My 2p:</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>Perhaps use "trail_visibility" through the lifecycle of the path
as it changes from "being obvious on the ground" to "not being
there at all"?</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>Once it's definitely disappeared, I'd have no qualms about
deleting it altogether. Sometimes I update the tags on a path
before deleting it to something like "note=nothing on this
alignment any more". <br>
</p>
<p><br>
</p>
<p>If it's still visible on imagery, I'd be tempted to leave that
note there (without a highway tag) to stop someone retracing it.</p>
