Namely, “wrong” is a subjective category, what is wrong to me (or many of us) not necessarily wrong to you (or many others). To me uploading useless data to OSM is wrong though for others it is not.</p><p class=MsoNormal>However, uploaded geometry with no tags or wrong tags is just a little fraction of the useless data in OSM. Just try to find out (as I did) how many of the public OSM based maps are using area objects like (The Barents) sea, (The Iberian) peninsula, (The Hudson) bay just to mention some. All these useless data, or with a marginal use, should be removed, at least moved to a secondary OSM source. Until two or three years ago, the size of the OSM dump (XML, closest you can come to the original source data) was around 25 GB and even small companies and single developers could handle it. Now, the size of the dump is so large (over 100 GB compressed or 1.4 TB uncompressed) that it became a privilege to some rich institutions and universities to handle and use it for GIS and mapmaking. Yes, I know, we in small companies or individual enthusiasts could and should use third parties data preparations, extracts, tiles and so on and avoid reinventing the wheel. But this mindset is extremely dangerous in development and science.
