Hello Mustafa

- This waterbody is not like other seas, and it is a gulf overlooking the neighboring countries and therefore their societies and states are more entitled to others to put the name.

- The common name locally is the official and popular Arabic name, and this is a fact that you cannot deny and it is proven by the official government websites [1].

- We are not a minority, in fact, the Arab countries have more population than Iran and have longer coastlines too [2], and our actions are not 'stupid' or according to the opinions of individuals, but rather reflect the correct reality on the ground.
We have the right to label as you have the right. Li Yaqo suggested the A\B solution that guarantees our right and yours [3].

- Historical or international names are not binding on us as a local community, but the common and used name is what should be on the name card, historical and others have each other tags [4].

- We are not moving with a political agenda, and if we were, we would not have accepted the A/B solution (because the Persian name is not recognized at all in our society).

- The solution to remove the name will not stop the problems because the nationalist vandalists will not stop adding their name to the name tag.

In general, I am sorry for seeing the way this "conversation" is taking
forward. Some thing to point out:

- Nobody here represent any community. We are discussing all as individuals.
- There are very good reasons (internationally recognition, historic
evidence) for using Persian Gulf as name. Persian Gulf is not a name
made up by Iranian. It is a historic name, recognized internationally
and used widely. Do not reduce the issue to some thing else.
- Persian Gulf is an international water body. So we cannot expect the
international community to use the name we like.
- The attitude for blaming Iranian community for action of some random
people should stop somewhere. As we cannot hold Arabs responsible for
some stupid action of some random user, you cannot do the same again an
again and again to Iranian. You cannot take advantage of this to push
your political agenda. Not a good excuse.
- Since the local name is reflected in name:fa and name:ar, pushing for
imposition of any other name than Persian Gulf on name tag proves the
very political agenda. Don't do that.
- Voting in no Telegram/Matrix/Slack/... has any real meaning. Don't
claim to be representative of OSM community. Simply don't. Neither you
are representative of Arabs, nor me or Ebrahim Nejati are representative
of Iranians. Let's not mess up here.
- Don't let bullies to push their opinion. Don't let them to misuse your
good will.

It is such a ironic situation to see few politically motivated people
want to make decision for the name of an international water body.

Otherwise for clear reasons, the name of this water body has been and is
Persian Gulf. Whenever the international community decided to using
another name, that time we can consider change. Yet I would still
support removing name tag to reduce sensitivities.
