not go down a rabbit hole of offering up hypothetical examples
of what people might say and then ask us moderators to predict
whether it will or will not evoke a complaint from someone else
in the community. As for proactive responses from the moderators
(i.e., responses initiated without a complaint from someone in
the community), those will occur in the event of aggressive or
abusive discourse. I don't think you need an explanation of what
that means. <br>

<p><font face="Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif">In a nutshell,
moderation is being imposed on the lists in order to ensure that
the dialogues on the list reflect respect for members of the
community, and that arguments are dispassionate, i.e., are not
written in a manner that will tend to evoke negative reactions.
Whether this or that statement will deeply offend another
community member is something we shall have to wait and see to
determine, case by case. If you want a rule of thumb, be polite!

mind that the moderators will examine complaints case by case.
If a frivolous complaint comes to the moderators, it will in all
likelihood be treated as frivolous. <br>
