This is while trying to upload a trace?
Do you have any non-ascii characters in any field? I recently saw some
problems with a webapp that makes me think lynx breaks when the page
tries to have it use UTF-8.

There were some temporary server problems yesterday evening, but if
this is reproduceable at other times too you could try contacting the
dev list or filing a ticket on trac.openstreetmap.org.

If it's repeatable every time with lynx it's probably fairly easy for
the devs to track it down, and it might hit other client software as
well so it might be nice to fix if it's a problem with the API.
