I'm a blind person and I use regulary Loadstone as GPS aplication on my Nokia, and many others as well. Loadstone is an accesible software for our phone screen readers. Loadstone use Open street maps, but it's not able to create a ruth automaticaly. The other hand, we can use Nokia maps for that. Nokia maps haven't so good maps for romania, unfortunately. I guess you are using Nuance Talks or Mobile Speak on your Nokia, that makes me assume you have a Symbian OS running. You might want to have a look on this OpenStreetMap Wiki page: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Symbian There is a list of all known applications that use Symbian OS and OpenStreetMap. There is no application in the list though, that is testes with screenreader except Loadstone. Also Nokio has a nice implementation of JavaME, so you might want to try one of the JavaME applications for OpenStreetMap: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Software/J2ME LoroDux will work on your Nokia with JavaME, but Loadstone offers you much more functionality. There is no other application than LoroDux tested with a screenreader, but you might want to give a try to GPSmid. I can forward your test report to the developers. If you have an iPhone aswell, there are more tested applications. No, not yet. But it should be possible. OpenStreetMap uses an open data format. Nokia maps format is not open. You will hardly find someone who will support this open to closed data format concept. The only closed format that OSM data is converted to as far as I know is to Garmin format, which is done because Garmin Hardware has special advantages for a huge amount of users (you can throw it in the mud). I am sorry I bothered you with cool free open source alternatives that you can influence. Hope anybody else was interested. If you want to stick to Nokia Maps, why don't you complain about their maps to their email address? You see, making a routing software is rather easy and quick compared to collecting map data for the whole world. Maybe you find more compagnions if you find another software, than to find another good and free map data source. If you want to convert OSM to LMX yourself you might want to use XSLTPROT and this LMX example to start with (only for POIs): http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/LMX I have no idea though how to transfer selfmade LMX files to a Nokia Phone, to which folder. Nothing fancy and nothing eye-candy:-) Hi Ari, I don't know any commant line interface solutions. Here are two prototypes in German of online text interfaces: Amauromap: No Routing, but description of streets (OSM based) http://www.amauro.map.at/ "Accessible Routing" With routing in German, also OSM based http://koenigstuhl.geog.uni-heidelberg.de/accessible_routing/ By the way, you could have found both links on our OpenStreetMap Wiki page: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/For_the_blind Sorry there is nothing in English yet. I am working on a project for fully accessible routing in English and German (and more, but there is nothing to show yet but the requirements and the project plan. It will be called "Look and listen map". If you don't want a text result but a gps track as a result, you might want to do some research on routing solutions with maps, where a line is drawn on the map. Maybe you can grab the track (.gpx or .klm) from the website? Or have you tried that in google maps? I will keep your requirement to download a gpx routing file in mind for later versions of "look and listen map". Ari, are you still uploading tracks to OSM? Did that work fine? You'll need to set up a server instance for the area you're interested in, and include a GTFS transit dataset for the area (since OSM data is pulled for the area surrounding the GTFS data. OTP has a web-accessible API component (http://www.opentripplanner.org/apidoc/), and you could access that from your own simple command-line software client and transform that output into GPX. More details on setting up your own OTP instance are here: https://github.com/openplans/OpenTripPlanner/wiki/Install Sean -----Original Message----- From: accessibility-request at openstreetmap.org [mailto:accessibility-request at openstreetmap.org] Sent: Monday, August 29, 2011 7:00 AM To: accessibility at openstreetmap.org Subject: Accessibility Digest, Vol 24, Issue 3 Send Accessibility mailing list submissions to accessibility at openstreetmap.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/accessibility or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to accessibility-request at openstreetmap.org You can reach the person managing the list at accessibility-owner at openstreetmap.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of Accessibility digest..."
