Hello list members,

here's news from our OpenStreetMap project "Look and Listen Map".

The project wants to make OSM data accessible for blind or visually impaired persons.

We are making a web page where you can ask for a route or explore the descriptions of places you walk along virtually.

The project idea has won in German "WissensWert" ("Worth Knowing") Award in 2010, donated by German WikiMedia e.V. for free data/free knowledje projects.

In 2011 Look and Listen Map won first prize in Torsten Brand Award, donated by the company Nuance, for technology that helps the blind in communication and mobility.

Now we are proud to announce a third victory.
Look and Listen Map won the German eLearning Innovation and Young Academics Award D-ELINA 2012 in the category "Campus".

Look and Listen Map may become another means for teaching geography to blind pupils.

The programming is ongoing, we hope to have a first German-only version available at the end of March. Translation to English and other languages is planned.

Find more information on http://wiki.osm.org/wiki/lalm .

You can follow us on twitter, the user name is "LookListenMap".

The web service Look and Listen Map will be available at
http://www.look-and-listen-map.net (German only at the moment. I'll try to add English content soon).

Best regards
Lulu-Ann
