Hi Friends,
My name is Katie Urey. My connections in Portland Oregon are with a GISJammer
Group <http://oregonwalks.org/programs/gis-jammers> (Affiliated with Oregon
Walks,a non profit and Portland State University) And I also attend
meetings of a local committee, Access Recreation (
http://accessrecreation.org/ )
The GIS Jammer group created a web based application to do a
general-not-too-detailed survey of curb ramp conditions. I used this
application to map curb ramps <http://cdb.io/1exe8Wn> in Portland Oregon's
Lloyd District.
The GIS Jammers also is working on a set of tools to blend OSM and
street-centerline shapefiles, to build a routeable walkway network from
this data, and to then do analysis on the utility of various routes.
We will present one of our applications at SOTM, 2014 in Washington
D.C.<http://stateofthemap.us/>,
April 12,13, (14). After the conference I will be in Baltimore MD for
another week. If this message finds any friends who will be at SOTM or in
the D.C. area, let's meet up in April.
The GIS Jammer group would ask of the OSM community and the Universal
Access Community some questions.
1) what are the 3 most important factors to record about curb ramps?
2) What curb ramp factor, if not recorded, makes the information useless?
3) How far would people of various abilities travel to reach a "perfect"
curb ramp at a "perfect" intersection.
best regards,
Katie Urey
