Dear Mario,
We are developing an app to collect accessibility data to and from OSM. All
data will be stored in OSM.
For the moment we mainly focus on data for wheelchair users, but we are
looking to also add more data for blind people.
We have some research going on now to use AI and Machine Learning to
integrate a smart voice assistant to make the
app accessible for blind people. The idea is that you will be able to
collect data by speaking to the app in a kind of conversation.
As Sebastien was saying it would be interesting to know what kind of data
for blind people would be interesting to have?
Met vriendelijke groeten

Dear Mario,
Many thanks for your message and thanks to Vincent, who has kindly forwarded
it to me, leading me to join this list which I didn't know before.
I live in France, am myself blind and a computer scientist, too (for the
curious, I am @shindere on GitHub).
It was quite natural for me to get interested in OSM because I use Free and
Open Source Software for years now and find it very important to be able to
move by myself and discover what's there around me.
So far I have not really tried to contribute to OSM but rather to (1) let
people know what I need in terms of data and (2) develop some tooling to
explore the map, so far focussing on the parisian metro.
My understanding until now has been that, given the work it would require to
make contribution tools accessible, and given the rather low number of
visually impaired contributors I am expecting, it would not have a good RoI
to try to make it possible for blind people to contribute and it's more
efficient for us to use the data that are there and let others know what we
need. It's not a definitive point of view, just the conclusion I came to for
now but I am definitely open to other ideas and to change my take on this.
Sorry for the too short mail whereas there is so much to say on this topic.
Seb.
