Not so sure about that, think there's a place for different people coding
the features they would
like to see the most. Everyone working on OSM-related code is likely to
have slightly different
interests. For example, one person might be more interested in the
"vandalism-prevention" stuff but
another might be more interested in adapting the current OSM drawing code
so that it shows roads and paths
in different colours, for example. Still another might be interested in
adding new features to the applet, and yet another might be more interested
in formats.
There's arguably room for everyone to "scratch their itch" and the combined
result will be an improved OSM.
