I know nothing about the implementation.  But the URLs have always 
contained very long decimals (I think Christopher suggested they 
be shortened) and still the behaviour has changed lately.  Back in 
this winter and spring, I could right-click on a single badly 
rendered tile, view image, shift-reload it, and when I clicked the 
browser's "back" button the new and correctly rendered tile would 
be there.  That trick doesn't work anymore.

Also new is the behaviour that when I click the view tab (to get 
the permanent URL of the current view), some tiles appear as if 
they weren't already loaded.  I guess this could be explained if 
the JavaScript code has changed its mind on the tile's exact URL 
while I was panning around.

The current behaviour, in these two ways, is somewhat worse than 
it used to be.  However, I think these errors were introduced 
somewhat earlier (some weeks ago) than the new 
yellow/green/antialiased rendering of roads.
