Andy,

It certainly supports a good number of the new conventions (which I myself 
have moved to with osmeditor2).

for the tags it supports.

However, it is still running off the start-of-April planet.osm, so 
anything done since then won't show up.
I noticed that with the PHP renderer also (still available at 
nick.dev.openstreetmap.org) - your area was mostly white streets with the 
odd coloured street, even when I added new tag support. Again uses the 
April 1 planet.osm.
