An interactive osmarender front end is certainly feasible.  The SVG dom is
exposed nicely and can be manipulated with Javascript - I'd do it myself, if
I ever had any time.

The Adobe plugin still works with IE 7 so it will continue to work for a
good while yet - Adobe support isn't required to make that happen.  I'd hope
that someone out there has spotted the gap in the market and is busy porting
the FF svg stuff to IE.

In general I think its good for people with different skills to try to solve
the same problems using the tools they know best.  Evolution will determine
which is the best result.

(when XSLT is the only tool you know, every problem looks like an XML
transformation)
