[OSM-dev] Setting up a test server

Hello Nick

I have set up a copy of www locally to test database changes before 
going live.

I have attached a copy. gunzip it, place in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled. 
Change the ip address to your ip address. edit /etc/hosts on your local 
machine so that www.openstreetmap.org points to the ip address of the 
web server. (to use openstreetmap proper again, comment out the line. 
Instead, you might run the openstreetmap service under a different 
domain name).

create /var/www/openstreetmap
copy the API stuff from svn. Check it is executable by the web server 
where necessary.

Set the database in servinfo.rb.

I have also attached a recursive directory listing of 
/var/www/openstreetmap on my system

Alternatively I can (re-)create the account for you on dev, which should 
set all this up automagically (with the script I wrote a couple of 
months ago). dev also has a copy of planet.osm which you can point your 
installation to.
