Frederik proposed something similar. However I am not a server
programmer (if I did somehting it'd probably be a security nightmare), 
nor do I think someone is available who is willing to
do the work for me. So I am looking for interim solutions.

gzip would obviously be the best short term solution, but the API server 
doesn't support it (or am I doing something wrong?) I assumed there
was a reason gzip is disabled so then the next easy target is the
created_by target, hence this thread.
