[OSM-dev] map icons, license and copyright in svn

Hi,

i'd like to create a debian package with the map icons found in
svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/share/map-icons/.

The problem is, that there is no information neither who created these
icons (copyright) nor under which license they can be used.
The same problem exists for several (most?) of the scripts and
programs currently in svn. 
Under this conditions nobody can legally re-distribute all of 
this great work which means they cannot enter linux distributions 
or cannot be used elsewhere which i think would be very, very sad.

In general it is important that information is provided, who holds the
copyright (mostly who did the work :) and under what conditions the
work can be used.

Could we please put some effort to change this situation thus creating
a basis that openstreetmap related work can be distributed more widespread
and therefore pushing the project more into  public interest.

If the information can be found somewhere and i just overlooked it
somehow, please point me in the right direction :)
