[OSM-dev] WMS of OSM-data

Hello devs,

while fighting with mapniks WMS-support on debian etch I am thinking of
converting the osm.xml file into UMN mapservers map-file-format. (Tiles
for WMS-T are generated fine though and are uasable with OpenLayers
w/TileCache).

This seems to be a fairly amount of work so before I start I like to
know if someone has done something similar befor and like to share
experiences.

I appreciate any pointers.
