[OSM-dev] AND data integration

Hello everybody!

I'm Lex Tiekink, working at AND Automotive Navigation Data. I've posted a
message in talk-nl, suggesting that the discussions about the integration of
the AND data be moved from the talk-nl mailinglist to here.

I will follow the discussions at dev closely, and will be available to
answer technical questions about the data.


There is currently a discussion going on about how to integrate the data,
considering that for certain cities there is already very detailed coverage
in OSM. This is indeed something that has to be solved.

My addition to this is the point that AND data contains attributes that are
being used for navigation, like RD_TYPE, RD_LEVEL and RD_OTHER fc#[0-4],
which are not in the current OSM data. I think these attributes are a
valuable addition to the OSM data and should be retained. This is no problem
in areas where no coverage is currently available, but in the areas with
detailed OSM coverage, we should find a way to enrich the current data with
these attributes (or use AND data as a basis).

I will upload the spec of the fc#[0-4] (functional road class) to the wiki
for you guys to read. Again, if there are any technical questions, I'm happy
to answer them.
