If you download the latest GEOS code ([2007/02/02] geos-3.0.0rc4) from
http://geos.refractions.net/, you can build Ruby and Python bindings
(./configure --enable-ruby --enable-python)

That should give access to a fully featured geometry library in Ruby,
although I haven't used it from Ruby.
