Just that gsub('\','\\') didn't appear to work whereas  
gsub(92.chr,92.chr+92.chr) did!

Looks like a neat patch, thanks Dave.

Agree that the old ;;; was a bit silly, it was something I believed  
was the case for the old pre-Rails code and so implemented in  
Potlatch, but apparently was never used.
