You're right, I forgot that the osmxapi is updated daily...

Still, I think that static excerpts, put on a well-known machine, are 
useful if there is more than one "customer" per area. That way, the 
effort to produce the excerpt is done only once and won't put a burden 
on informationfreeway.org (which is on hypercube, too, if I remember 
correctly ? )
