[OSM-dev] Object IDs not unique across object type?

I always thought that ID's were unique, even across object types.
However, I have an ID (26657678) which is both a node and a way (and in
about the same spot, which is why I detected it).

As I see nothing regarding uniqueness in the API doc, could someone confirm
this is normal and not some db bug?
