Thanks. OSMosis is very useful. I just do not understand why it does not 
accept :

/osmosis --read-xml file="inFile.osm" --bounding-polygon 
file="country2pts.txt" --write-xml file="outFile.osm"/

while it accepts command:

/osmosis --read-xml inFile.osm --bounding-polygon 
file="countrty2pts.txt" --write-xml outFile.osm
/
It also does not download or even read points files from maproom.psu.edu.
I use firefox-3.0 and ubuntu 8.04
