we could do it this way. but i'd prefer to have the users asking for
this feature, rather than the developers - it's their privacy we're
trying to safeguard.

what if the user wants those emails sent to a different address?

the display name is unique at any one time, but the user can change
it. this means it isn't good as a foreign key, which is why i'm going
to add the user ID to the user details ;-)
