And my rule of thumb is if a tractor uses it it's a track, this is basically
the same assumption as a 4x4 off road usage. Otherwise it's something else,
normally a footway/path etc if narrower. So, two ruts it's a track. If it's
paved I tend to use highway=service.

Time to put my tagging preferences on my wiki page perhaps :-)
