So you want the API server to cancel the request after 30 seconds and
show an error message to the user, even if the database might just have
been working hard and be *just* about to return results?
Doesn't sound like something that I would like. Then again, I think I've
seen messages like "sorry, the object ... took too long to load" or so
in the past.
