That's a very buzzwordy topic. I can see you beeing flooded by "NoSQL"
acolytes ;)
Personally I'm pretty sure that the current, non-horizontally-scaling
setup will last well into 2012 at least, but I'm just a random tech guy
and I'm sure if the collected expertise of the OSM TWG says we need to
look into that right now then they will have a point.
I wanted to compose a message about various topics in your meeting
notes; one thing on my list was that in the notes you have put something
about maybe soliciting ideas for "bounties" etc. for stuff that improved
the "horizontal scalability". Please, in going further, consider that
offering incentives for one kind of development and not for another
expresses a strong priority. Personally, I think that e.g. the
development of tools to aid the license change process should rank much
higher, and there are other needs that are perceived as pressing, too.
Also, be reminded that bounties were used in the past in this project
and, to my knowledge, never had any noticeable effect.
