Yes, that's the work flow at the moment. But it should be feasible to
have daily updates. Also, I am working on a distributed

I do not have any numbers for the planet file yet, but I can give you
the numbers for the Western Europe file that powers the demo.

extractNetwork: 8 min, 2.9 GB RAM, 600MB Disk
createHierarchy: ~5min, 1.5 GB RAM, 600MB Disk
routed: ~1min startup, 1.5 GB RAM

Brief tests by a colleague showed that parsing the world file and
extracting the road network takes about 90 minutes. Preprocessing the
data takes another 45-60 mins and something like 15 minutes to start.
All this was done on a machine with 64GB of RAM. Please note, that the
speed and memory requirements of the road extraction shall improve with
the future releases.
