osmosis --rrii workingDirectory=.
osmosis --rri workingDirectory=. --wxc diffs.osc.gz
osmosis --rri workingDirectory=. --wxc | osm2pgsql -a .....

Although instead of '.' as the directory I suggestion something like
~/.osmosis to keep your directory neat and tidy.
