As of now I only use a single SATA 2 TB drive. I am afraid, it is
running at only 5400 rpm.

I looked into that - it really is interesting and gives me some
pointers. You think I can sufficiently improve the situation by adding
one or two more drives (and getting faster ones) to a software
RAID-0?! Or does it have to be a hardware RAID?
Unfortunately I am limited to the 4 Core and 8 GB on that machine.
