I think pointing people to jXAPI could work, or one thing. And, the whole
'unofficial third party sources' bit isn't that strong;
planet.osm.orgpoints to third-party sources, and so does the wiki.
In short, they exist and are useful, and I think it makes sense to reduce
the number of logical leaps you need to take to get from A to B, because
I'd assume a ton of people are getting lost along the way.
