I'm sure you've seen that actual time window for applications isn't open
yet:

So to get a headstart, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with
Overpass API, review all available documentation and develop ideas of what
could be improved.

- Very popular web interface to the Overpass API http://overpass-turbo.eu/

Please also reach out to tyr_asd - the possible mentor for this project:

It will make sense to have some of discussions with your potential mentor
