This mailing list is okay. We also have an IRC channel on OFTC at #osm-gsoc.

You can contact the mentors about additional details on each project. In
this case Simon Poole.

Before you do that, make sure you familiarize yourself well with OSM and
the project. If you have never mapped anything it is time to create an
account and improve the data in your vicinity. For the 'Element history
project' you should of course use Vespucchi to do so. Also set up the
development environment and start digging into Vespucchi's source code.
We require this year, that you have already contributed a small PR to
a project. Simon has marked some Vespucchi issues which are suitable:

They are a good way to familiarise yourself with the code.
