Hey
Open Gender Monologues is coming to SOTM. We need your help. Kate and I
will host a session at SOTM to prompt a safe dialogue about gender
experiences in OSM. We will ask people to share their stories, then share
with you (some anonymous). Then, we will aim to join up the in person
conversation with this community list for next steps.
*Survey link: http://bit.ly/OpenGenderOSM <http://bit.ly/OpenGenderOSM>*
For SOTM, we will need some helpers to support and share the stories.
Please do get in touch .
*More details:*
Open Heroines will host a session at the State of Map - Milan (July 28 -
30, 2018) This session will not be like any usual panel. We want to raise
awareness of the struggles and successes of women and LGBTQ in the
OpenStreetMap community - using their own words and experiences. Open
Heroines is a global community supporting diversity in open communities. We
share voices of women in open government, open data and civic tech.

*How will we do it?*
Using this form, you can share with us your anecdotes - short stories of
your struggles or success in the field, told from the perspective of women
and LGBTQ. Since we know this can be very sensitive, we also welcome you to
submit these experiences anonymously. We will share the some of these
stories on our OSM diaries before SOTM and will read some in our session.
They can be read by the person who submits, or they can be read on your
behalf - anonymously or with attribution as desired. We encourage you to
respond in the language that makes you comfortable. We will work with you
or the wider community to help support translation. We respect your privacy
and will do the utmost to translate content and maintain your
confidentially pending your submission.
*What happens next?*
We seek people's input in how we might address or take the next steps to
support more diversity. The in person content and suggestions will continue
on the Diversity Mailing list.
*Timelines*
We will leave this open for about 1 month:
Submissions open: June 11, 2018
Submissions close (to be shared at SOTM): July 16, 2018
