I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 on an Amazon VM. I installed everything except 
for Nominatim using apt. The thing is I got this to work a couple of 
months ago (on an older Ubuntu install, 10.10). If you want I can send 
you the whole install proceedure from my current install, or maybe I can 
create an image of my vm and share it?
