Hi,

no I don't have it in a virtualbox or vmplayer format, but you can use a 
micro amazon ami for free for a year, I can share my image and you can 
use it. If that isn't an option then I can send you the details of 
everything I installed, in the correct order, the commnads, etc, and you 
can install Ubuntu 64bit 12.04 server edition on a VM and replay all the 
commands.

I can also compile osm2pgsql with debug symbols if you tell me how to do 
it and what to do to get useful info for you.
