Comment:

 The sanity check ensures that the difference between two house numbers is
 less than 1000, see
 [https://github.com/twain47/Nominatim/blob/master/sql/functions.sql#L854
 here]. So adding support points with their house number every now and then
 is the right thing to do. It will also ensure that the error between the
 real house numbers and the interpolated one remains small.
