Dear OSM GSoC Team,

I don't know, if this is the right way, but as Andy Allan suggest I want to inform you, that I added a new project idea ("Extend OSM API to fully support JSON data format ") for the GSoC 2022 to the wiki page:

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2022/Project_ideas#Core_.2F_API

Unfortunately, I couldn't reach Tom Hughes to further discuss this idea or to find an appropriate mentor.
Maybe you can help to find a possible mentor.

Best regards
René Apitzsch

Hi René,

I think it's a good idea to extend the JSON support for the rest of the
OSM API. I'd be happy to see work done to achieve this, either as part
of GSoC or separately.

I've no idea whether this would make a good GSoC project or not since
I'm not experienced with developing those projects. So I would encourage
you to start with adding the project as an idea on the wiki, and working
with the OSM GSoC team to develop the idea, find a mentor and so on.

Thanks,
Andy

As you know only a few endpoints of the OSM API support JSON requests/responses (mainly GET) at the moment.
