Team...
I'm hesitant to say this, as it's been a long time in coming, and there's
still a fair amount of tuning and fixup to be done, but I think the server
may be ready for some bashing and testing.
If you can do me a favor, please go online, signup, and start editing data.
You should be able to connect using JOSM by changing your connection
settings to: http://www.openhistoricalmap.org/api/, or you should just be
able to play around with Potlatch (thanks, Mikel!).

The tile server should refresh the data automatically, although it might be
a little slow. I'm still learning on this front, so any suggestions for
speeding it up are most welcome.
If you haven't seen Mikel's presentation, it's very motivating & worth a
spin: http://files.groundtruth.in/presentations/geodc-historic/#0
In addition to the automatic tile updating, other recent changes were
related to style sheets. Builtup areas, national borders, and populated
places have all been removed.
Next steps:
- Enter more data
- Figure out how to get shorelines updated more easily
- Switch over to Carto from the mapnik osm.xml stylings (I think that's the
way to put it...)
- Speed up rendering
- See what happens
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Jeff
