My name is Rick Marshall and I am a historical and mapping junkie.
I am most interested in the historical development of the roadside
culture. For instance, the culture that grew up along side of Route
66 in the United States and changed the face of our landscape, and now
continues to grow alonside the Interstate highway system is what I am
most interested in. I have been looking for a good way to document
the location and look of that historic culture, as we are beginning to
lose many of the icons that have dotted our landscape for the last few
years. I own a GIS consulting business and have been an OpenStreetMap
contributor for a couple of years. It seems that an Historic
OpenStreetMap would be a great idea that I look forward to being
fielded. Do you know if there will be any capability to upload
geotagged photos?
Thanks for hosting this group. I only came across the group the other
day and I have been reading many of the posts to try to get caught up
on where the group is at.
