Hi,

Today I've joined the OHM mailing list, at the SOTM-EU hackday. I'm
interested in historical mapping, because one of my other hobbies is
genealogy. I'm mostly interested in the history of the area where I
grew up and where my ancestors came from. This area is located in the
east of the Netherlands, at the German border. I intend to start with
adding administrative boundaries, farm locations, important buildings
and perhaps a couple of the (historical) main roads.

For historical mapping I've several resources to my disposal, like
out-of-copyright maps. During the last 7 years I had a pet project
with similar functionality as Tim Waters' MapWarper. I can use it to
warp and reproject scanned maps, and also tile them up in World
Mercator tiles. Currently I'm looking for a good place to store these
tiles, so anyone can use them as a reference. It might be interesting
for other projects as well, for example for genealogists. If someone
has good ideas regarding this, please let me know.

I'm looking forward to cooperate with you guys.

Regards,

Frank
